FROM THE VFC BOARD PRESIDENT
April 11th marks my first VFC membership meeting as president (see below for meeting details). Members—and those wanting a food cooperative in Vancouver, Clark County—are encouraged to come, hang out with like-minded folks, get the scoop on VFC, and talk with those who are working hard to make the grocery store happen. This meeting is an excellent opportunity to check in with where we are in our progress.
VFC continues to face some serious stuff that we seem not to be able to put behind us as yet: a history of discord, a declining member volunteer involvement, and slow membership growth. VFC got off to a slow start for many reasons that need not be belabored here; that’s the past and cannot be changed. Many positive things have happened: our relationship with other co-ops is expanding, our connection with local farmers and producers growing, and contact with organizations that can help us develop into a grocery store, progressing well.
This meeting is the perfect opportunity to focus on the future of VFC. Do you want a successful food cooperative grocery store in Vancouver? Then you must become part of the community! Become a member today and join us on the 11th!
