Unauthorized Access of Information

Dear VFC Owner,
We regret to inform you that the information systems of the Vancouver Food Cooperative (VFC) were recently compromised by unauthorized access. Though you may have received an email regarding this situation, we feel it is important to make sure that all of our owners are reached.
We are sure that unauthorized access of the cooperative's owner list was made including all member's names, addresses and telephone numbers.
It is the policy of VFC to maintain owner's information as private. VFC tech people have taken additional steps to secure VFC information systems.
Because computer trespassing is a crime in Washington state, we have notified law enforcement of the unauthorized access. We will keep you informed of progress of any investigation and prosecution of the perpetrator(s).
This letter is the only mailing from VFC in the last week. You may have received another mailing this week that may have appeared to be from the VFC. That "information" was not approved, endorsed nor sent by VFC. We are currently determining the details of the relationship, if any, between the mailing and the unauthorized computer access.
Our next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting is Monday, September 8, 2008. While all of our regular meetings are open, we extend a special invitation to you to attend and comment on this matter.
On Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 there will be a meeting for VFC owners at the Fort Vancouver Regional Library. The purpose of this meeting is to give a planning and progress report for VFC. The meeting will start at 6:30pm in the downstairs Community Room. The library is located at Ft. Vancouver Way and Mill Plain Boulevard. The address is 1007 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98663.
