First Friday Artwalk

The Vancouver Food Co-op is proud to participate in Vancouver's First Friday Artwalk! 

Drop by the co-op on the first Friday of each month to see student artwork from local schools and to taste samples from our many local vendors!

November's student artwork is from Harney Elementary School students in Trisha Kasper's Visual Art/Creative Movement class. Students explored the shapes and contours of vegetables and flowers through the medium of oil pastels. Rainbow kale, squash and peppers nestle with carrots to fill the page with the bright colors of fresh organic produce. Students sketched the still life with pencil carefully including a horizon line to anchor their subjects then attempted to show dimension and perspective through overlapping. Many students were encouraged by our topic to go home and munch some fresh vegetables!
